Mother’s Mother | Open Mic Monday

SCEF Poet pays homage to his late grandmother Bertha Wilkerson via spoken word, photography and film.

SCEF PoetSelf-Assured, yet unassuming, SCEF, Newton’s favorite son stepped unto the music landscape fusing classic hip-hop sounds with poignant spoken word. Born Charles Forward, the sleepy eyed artist attributes his success to the wisdom imparted to him by his mother, and his mother’s mother, both of whom he pays tribute to in his debut project “Hip-Hop Is Poetry” released in August of 2004.

SCEF is currently working on a new album, which you are sure to love! You can find SCEF on his website, Facebook, and Twitter. He also hosts a weekly web talk show, The Artform Show, every Tuesday night at 10pm CST. Be sure to check it out at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/scef.

Open Mic Mondays was specifically created for guest blogger submissions of all kinds, general topics, music, photography, arts, entertainment, poetry, community/socially conscious efforts, etc. If you are interested in being a guest blogger, send and email to info[@]justtonyab.com.

Dope! Makes me think of my mother’s father’s mother, my great great gram. I do miss her so!

AWard, this piece is so nostalgic. I makes me think of both of my grandmothers and reminisce of simpler times.
