I Never Thought I’d Love Him So Much

(the kids insisted that he have a full name, lol)

He’s such a beautiful and precious animal and unfortunately we have to give him away. We’ve had Aslan for about 2 1/2 years and he will be 3 years old on May 7th. Unfortunately,we won’t be able to celebrate his birthday together. No, I’m not joking, we do celebrate his birthday. My new apartment won’t be ready for a couple of weeks and I can’t keep him where we are until then.

I’ve been trying to stay strong for my daughters and explain to them that he will be okay, but I am hurting as well. I never thought I’d get so attached to him, but I’ve been crying all day. I called my friend this morning and I broke down on the phone trying to ask if he knew anyone that could take him. I was so embarrassed about bawling over a cat, but finally realized that my reaction was perfectly normal. Losing a pet in any capacity is very difficult.

I know that some of you may not understand how deep the hurt is, but we do consider him a part of our family. He’s just like a little baby too. My youngest daughter has spoiled him to no end. I remember at one point he went through a phase of having to have ice cubes in his water. He likes to be picked-up and carried like a baby at times; he will even try to wrap his paws around us. He’s brought so much joy into our lives. I don’t think I’ll be able to stomach signing those papers at the shelter.

We’ll miss him.

I can understand your pain. I thought people that was so attached to their animals was crazy. That was until the day my doggy was hit by a car… I cried for a week. I had to postpone my vacation to pay his medical bill— which was almost 5grand or have him put to sleep. That was not an option!

I hope these few weeks pass quickly so your family will be together again.

Can’t you put the cat in a kennel type of thing.Slips my mind what they are called. friend of mine puts her dog in one when she goes on vacation. At least look into it. i think there is one by my house on Hwy 6.
